Terms of Service

Effective date: 4 April 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Kitchen Counterapplication ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you must not use the App. Your continued use of the App following any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use Kitchen Counter. If you are under 16, you may not use the App or create an account.

2. Account Registration and Responsibilities

To use certain features of the App, you may be required to create an account. When registering, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep your account information up to date.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of your password. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Maintain only one account per person. Creating multiple accounts is not permitted and may result in the suspension or termination of all associated accounts.

You must notify us immediately at support@kitchencounter.app if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.

3. Subscription Terms

3.1 Pricing

Kitchen Counter offers the following subscription plans:

  • Monthly: £4.99 per month
  • 6 Months: £24.99 per 6-month period
  • Annual: £44.99 per year

3.2 Payment and Auto-Renewal

Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.

All subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of the selected plan, unless we have notified you of a price change in advance.

3.3 Free Trial

We may offer a free trial period for new subscribers. At the end of the free trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan unless you cancel before the trial ends. Only one free trial is available per person. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

3.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. To avoid being charged for the next billing period, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the end of your current subscription period. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current paid period, and you will retain access until that date.

Subscriptions may be managed and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your device's subscription settings after purchase. On iOS, go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions. On Android, open the Google Play Store > Subscriptions.

3.5 Refunds

Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. All refund requests are handled by the respective platform in accordance with their refund policies. Kitchen Counter does not process refunds directly. To request a refund, please contact Apple or Google through their standard support channels.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

When using the App, you agree not to:

  • Use the App in any way that is abusive, harmful, fraudulent, or otherwise objectionable, or that violates any applicable law or regulation.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use any automated means to access or collect data from the App without our prior written consent.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code or underlying algorithms of the App.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, security, or performance of the App or its related systems.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App, its servers, or any connected networks.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated this Acceptable Use Policy.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

The recipes and meal plans provided by Kitchen Counter are generated using artificial intelligence. By using the App, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Recipes are not guaranteed to be original. AI-generated recipes may resemble existing recipes and are not claimed to be unique creations.
  • Recipes may contain allergens. AI-generated content may include ingredients that could trigger allergies or dietary intolerances. You assume full responsibility for checking recipes against your own dietary requirements and allergy information before preparing or consuming any food. While the App uses your dietary preferences to guide recipe generation, AI-generated recipes may still contain ingredients that conflict with your stated preferences, including potential allergens. Always verify every recipe against your own dietary requirements and allergy information before preparing or consuming any food.
  • AI may make errors. Nutritional information, ingredient quantities, cooking times, and other details may be inaccurate. Always verify important dietary, nutritional, and safety information independently.
  • Not professional advice. Content provided by the App is not a substitute for professional nutritional, medical, or dietary advice. If you have specific health concerns, food allergies, or medical conditions, consult a qualified healthcare professional before relying on AI-generated recipes.

6. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, features, branding, and all associated content, is the intellectual property of Kitchen Counter and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our prior written consent.

You retain ownership of any personal data, custom recipes, and other content you create or input within the App. By using the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the service.

7. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Dietary and allergy disclaimer: Kitchen Counter is not responsible for any adverse reactions, allergic responses, illness, or other harm resulting from recipes or meal plans generated by the App. You are solely responsible for verifying that all ingredients and recipes are safe for your individual dietary needs and health conditions.

"As is" provision: The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

AI-generated recipe liability: Kitchen Counter shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of AI-generated recipes, including but not limited to adverse reactions, allergic responses, or any harm resulting from reliance on information provided by the App.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total liability of Kitchen Counter to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account through the App or by contacting us at support@kitchencounter.app.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent or abusive behaviour, or otherwise acted in a manner that could harm Kitchen Counter, its users, or third parties.

Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including, without limitation, intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law) shall survive.

9. Dispute Resolution

Before initiating any legal proceedings, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us at support@kitchencounter.app. We will endeavour to resolve any dispute within 30 days of receiving your complaint.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Terms within the App and updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page.

Your continued use of the App after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

13. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Kitchen Counter regarding your use of the App.
